Our Executive Director, Debbie, recently took some time to sit down with our team of interns to hear what had motivated them to join us in serving the refugee population here in mid-Missouri.
As they chatted, similar trends began to emerge: almost all of them had some significant way that they could relate to a refugee's experience. Debbie and the interns saw an opportunity for a need among young refugees to be met through the intern team: friendship & mentorship.
What if these college students who have endured their own hardships could turn around and walk alongside younger teenagers who are now working through various challenges?
What if we could equip this younger generation to encourage, build up, and be a reliable resource to our refugee youth?
The pieces keep coming together as we plan and prepare for our new youth mentoring program. We can't wait to keep you updated on our journey as more lives are changed by the power of real friendship.
