Yesterday I had so much fun being a VISTA! I went to several area employers to discuss employment opportunities as well as donation opportunities. Our hope is that multiple organizations will consider hosting a basic needs drive and commit to one month of this year. I created a flyer to pass out at each venue in hopes that interests would be peaked.
Friday I was able to go to an area sushi restaurant. I remember when a Jefferson City chicken restaurant went out of business and Love Sushi went into that building. Several of my sushi loving friends raved over the new business. Because my family does love some good sushi we have visited there on multiple occasions when celebrating special events and we loved every mouthful! It was also our first experience with K-Pop and was quite enlightening! I remember my daughter watching dumbfounded as an alien with a horse head danced around some cute Korean girls; we still laugh about her shock!
Love Sushi has such a great atmosphere! Someone in the family must have a green thumb because I loved all of the plants in the entryway and the restful Asian ambiance.
The manager is a sharp young man and part of the family that runs this chain. He remembers what it was like to come to the States with limited English skills. I loved hearing his heart and passion to provide jobs for our refugees. I am hopeful that we will be able to help fill his needs for more employees and I loved presenting our needs for organizations to sponsor our basic needs drive.
On my way out the door I ordered a yummy Miso Soup to go. The weather was chilly due to the rain and, let me tell you, that soup was the perfect thing to warm me up. Please don't ask how long that soup lasted, but I was regretful that I did not think to order a double! I hope to go back soon and enjoy some sushi!
And of some have compassion, making a difference: Jude 1:22 KJV
