Big News at the City

We have big news!  The City of Refuge has outgrown our current location and we are officially looking for a new home.

I have to admit that I am very excited about this announcement; Monday I sat at a desk by the receptionist because every office desk was full.  I noticed that one of our care coordinators was chatting with people on the couch in the meeting room.  I might fantasize just a little bit about having my own permanent desk and the thought of having family pictures, plants and doodads nearby.

Yesterday my daughter and I had the pleasure of visiting the Plume store, on the outskirts of Columbia.  Can I just say that I am in love with that shop?  The first thing that you notice is the lovely smell, and then you see so much eye candy.  When I signed up for the newsletter they sent me a coupon for two free cupcakes; my daughter picked out vanilla and German chocolate.  When we each ate half of our cupcake, we switched!  Yum!

We also spotted a cute Plume t-shirt that had "Columbia, MO" on it; a certain college student decided that she loved the shirt and needed to advertise her hometown while down in Florida at college.  I am definitely going back to select Christmas gifts!

Plume is another business in town that has chosen to partner with us for our silent auction.  The gift bag and certificate is so sweetly decorated; they are hosting a "gathering" in their beautiful little gathering room.  The winner of this auction item will get a dozen cupcakes, drinks for six, and two hours in the gathering room.  Thank you, Plume!

Earlier that day we visited Nothing Bundt Cakes.  Can I just say that I love the name?  They donated a Bundt donation tower.  The winner of this cute tower will be  able to bring the tower back to Nothing Bundt Cakes and select any two little bundt cakes.  It gets expensive taking my girl with me because we had to leave with a bundt cake as well; I would like to tell you that it was delicious, but the cake was eaten after dinner while I was at the City's financial literacy class last night.
