Free Resources in Columbia

Have I mentioned that I really love my job?  Without my new career, I would have never known that Columbia is full of generous people and organizations. One such organization is Central Bank.

Tonight I attended a free class about small business marketing at ProsperU.  Sarah is such a personable and fun host of the ProsperU classes.  The classroom is welcoming and the snack offerings certainly don't hurt either!  Sarah makes sure to provide value in each and every class that I have attended.  The class members filled out a quick survey at the end so that more value can be provided in future classes.  As you can tell by the calendar screenshot, the classes are varied and covered a wide range of topics.  The price tag on the classes is in the perfect price point...free!

What if you don't live near Columbia?  Check out resources online to see if a financial institution in your area provides free classes.  I love the "up-sell" on these programs; the entrepreneurs get free assistance while the local business owners are showcased as experts in their field.  The bank gets positive advertising and, maybe small business owners will opt to have their startups financed at the hosting organization's financial institution.

Tonight's class was fun and educational.  Jessica McNear at OnMedia had a wonderful handout in binder format and an excellent slide presentation on the overhead screen.  She inserted YouTube videos (my marketing "love language"?) to support her main points.  Was it worth my time? Was it worth giving up my evening at home?  Absolutely!

Consider this my shout out to Sarah and Jessica!  I would also like to send a big thank you to Central Bank.  All of the pictures in my post today are screen shots of their ProsperU webpage here.

And of some have compassion, making a difference: Jude 1:22 KJV
