Today I thought I would explore the basics on how to blog and why I chose to blog.
I am a naturally inquisitive person. Case in point, as a child, my third new word was actually a question...with multiple words! Why do I bring this up? When I am curious about things I naturally gravitate towards the internet. I follow multiple crafting blogs and YouTube channels. I am not hesitant to ask questions and do research. I conducted an informal survey among my fellow VISTAs and many of them agree that they either find a website or find an app if they have questions about businesses in town. My point is that our nonprofits should have a strong presence online.
Fortunately, our nonprofit has a good website, and it also has plans to make improvements in the future. I wanted to boost our online presence so I hit social media and then started my own blog. My goal is to promote the City of Refuge and to also promote the VISTA program. Some day I will pass the baton on to another VISTA here at the City of Refuge and they can pick up the "mantle" of the blog.
I did an in depth study of blogging, of course. I thought that I would share my notes today in hopes that other VISTAs would consider blogging.
And of some have compassion, making a difference: Jude 1:22 KJV
