The city of Columbia is home to the University of Missouri or Mizzou. The City of Refuge is so fortunate that so many college students have reached out to us for intern opportunities. I believe that we have about nine interns currently working with us this semester. What a great source of ideas and creativity!
Today I thought that I would share a post that was on our Facebook page. I wanted the chance to introduce you to one of our many wonderful interns.

Meet Carlo Lopez, one of our Spring 2022 interns!
Carlo is a Junior studying Finance at the University of Missouri. We asked Carlo to share a little about his internship and what interested him in City of Refuge. Read more below!
“As an immigrant myself, I was always interested in the resettlement process and helping those who are moving to a new country. I want to learn more about the adversity that refugees may face and what ways I can help them.
The biggest surprise for me was the extent that City of Refuge staff will go to help others. Such as providing any essential need for free, tutoring children, or even driving a refugee if needed.
This will help me reach my career goals as I want to pursue a career that helps those in need as well. Whether in the legal field or business field, I hope to carry over the values I've learned at City of Refuge into my professional career.”
